2 months after the start of the big 24-25 milking, KANY has already sourced 100 MT of organic and fairtrade cocoa. This is one of its greatest sourcing performances. This is the result of the combined effect of

• a greater risk-taking with the granting of school loans to producers in the amount of 20 thousand Euros
• production that has improved compared to last year
• more producers who understand the benefits of delivering to KANY and who are more committed to organic and fairtrade production.

It is difficult not to make the most of this great growth. But we must assume our responsibility towards our committed customers and provide the best possible quality of cocoa that at least meets export standards. This is why we have already downgraded 4.2 MT of unfortunately defective products.

We reduce the level of defective beans by good drying and sieving of batches already accepted by quality analysis. 1.5 MT of waste were generated on the packaging of 2 export containers of 25 MT each, i.e. 3% loss in packaging. Weight losses for which the premium will have to be paid to producers, but which are necessary to ensure the quality of the product for our fair partners.
